6 imagesHaving been born and raised on a working farm, agriculture is in my heart, and always will be. I find great beauty in farms fields of the Midwest, and in the agricultural artifacts that exist throughout America's heartland.

32 imagesNature is central to my photographic pursuits, but I also have a profound love of aviation. From a human sensory perspective, the F-22 Raptor is, perhaps, the most impactful of all aircraft. It is strikingly beautiful from a design perspective, and its capabilities are simply unbelievable. These are some of the best of my Raptor shots.

2 galleriesThis is a collection of two image galleries featuring photographs from the 2010 and 2011 Buckley Old Engine Show, an annual event held in Buckley, Michigan, just south of Traverse City, each summer. These images are special to me, for my love of tractors and farming, and, especially, because these were the last two Buckley shows that my brother George, my son Ethan, and I attended with my late father, Skip Ward, before his passing in 2012.

50 imagesGreen Bay, Wisconsin, is an old, industrial, commercial, and shipping hub on the Great Lakes. Like so many similar towns, Green Bay faces an ongoing challenge to make its riverfront, so essential to industry, compelling and attractive to all who visit. Beautification and renewal efforts have been underway for quite some time and, in my opinion, some great results have been realized. As an avid fisherman, I regularly pass up and down the Fox River. With this gallery, I thought I might provide a balanced look at what there is to see along the Fox.

42 imagesThis gallery contains a number of images that I captured during a very impromptu trip back to Manistee County and my old home town of Kaleva, during the Memorial Day Holiday in 2015. Kaleva was my home from 1974 until 1981. It was a very special place, and for so many reasons, not the least of which were some really great friendships and the wonderful Finnish culture that was still in evidence at that time. The old saying "you can never go home" isn't true .... you just drive there. Forcing yourself to make the trip, though, is tough, as is dealing with the memories of those departed. Change is inevitable; and, boy, has Kaleva changed since I left 34 years ago.

250 imagesThis gallery is dedicated to Barbara Coleman, and to the memory of the late Richard Coleman, my wife Susan's dad and my father-in-law. Dick and Barbara owned a wonderful, idyllic summer home in Park Rapids, Minnesota from the mid-90s until 2012, and hosted an annual visit from Sue and me, and our kids Ethan and Chloe. These visits only lasted a week, and we couldn't make it every year, but the memories are some of the most special of my lifetime. I know that Sue and the kids feel the same. Barbara, we all love you very much!!

18 imagesThis gallery contains images that I have captured of man's creations in the natural world. I am fascinated, even awed, at what we can create, but equally awed by nature's steady march to return things to their natural state.

59 imagesMichigan's Upper Peninsula is a special place in any season. The Keweenaw is the northernmost extent of the UP that juts out into Lake Superior where winters are brutal, yet seemingly of no real concern to the residents. It is an historical place that showcases a cycle of American industrial boom and bust, retains precious architectural treasures, and is home to truly wonderful people and compelling natural beauty. This gallery contains images captured during my visit to the Keweenaw in March of 2014.
-
64 imagesThis is a gallery of various Upper Peninsula photographic subjects from my trip there in mid-March, 2014. The U.P. is a vast, wild, and wondrous place, that offers pristine wilderness areas, hundreds of waterfalls, some of America's most wonderful architecture, a rich industrial and cultural heritage, and is a home to some wonderful people. I look forward to every visit to the U.P. and I am always reluctant to leave.

6 galleriesThis is a collection of image galleries containing photographs of the FIRST Robotics activities of De Pere, Wisconsin's Team 1716, of De Pere High School. My son, Ethan, was involved with FIRST Robotics throughout high school, and continues to contribute as a mentor to current participants. FIRST Robotics is an amazing program that promotes the educational pursuit of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics by young people, within a framework of sportsmanship, cooperation, and citizenship. Team 1716 is a great group of students, supported by some terrific mentors, and a fantastic leader, physics teacher Jim Johnson. This collection of galleries offers a look at the 2010-2013 Wisconsin Regional Competitions, and related preliminary activities. A FIRST Robotics Regional Competition is a truly awe-inspiring, uplifting event, made possible through the efforts of some amazing, dedicated volunteers. Everyone....I mean EVERYONE, should attend a FIRST FRC Regional. It captures the best of what made and keeps America great!!
